Selby Jenkins is a dance student and choreographer, based in Idaho and Belgium. She started dancing at the age of 4 in Boise, Idaho, where she was born and raised. Selby has had the privilege to study under multiple studios in the Treasure Valley, as well as travel throughout the United States and Europe to study with choreographers from all over the world. Selby studied in the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance’s Year-Round Program, prior to its closure, from 2017-2018 under the direction of Summer Lee Rhatigan. She is continuing her dance studies at the Performance Art and Research Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Brussels, Belgium, under the direction of Anne Theresa de Keersmaeker. In her professional experience, she has collaborated and performed with companies in Idaho and California; Project Flux, Idaho Dance Theater, WHYTEBERG, and Margaret Jenkins Dance Company. Through these companies, Selby has been granted opportunities to perform at Treefort Music Festival, MING Studios, the MJDC Lab in San Francisco, and throughout the state of Idaho. She continues to work on solo and collaborative projects, in both Boise and Brussels. Selby has taught at multiple studios in Boise, BSU’s Summer Dancefest, and a 6-week workshop at JUMP Boise before embarking on her journey to Brussels. She has choreographed a multitude of private competition solos, group pieces for studios, and additionally choreographed for Idaho Dance Theatre for their annual Spring showing in 2019.
