Aaron C. Evans( known as Ace the Spade) is a performance artist that works in many different mediums. He is born and raised in Oceanside, California and comes from a christian hard working middle class Marine family. Aaron spent most of his time with family, at church, and participating in musical, and artistic pursuits growing up. From an early age his mother knew he was destined to be involved in music or dance in some aspect, whenever music played as a fetus he could not stop moving. Early on in his life he mastered the piano and the violin by 3rd grade but due to his gender expression and bullying he decided to give up musical pursuits in middle school. In high school Aaron excelled in musical theater and acting, his love for the stage took him to regional acting conferences all over the country. His preferred art medium if he had to choose is dance, followed by vocal performance, acting, and the list goes on.
Aaron went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology where he focused on Women and Gender Studies and Latin American Studies. Although he had a love for art he was advised to take up something a bit more practical and “serious”. These educational focuses opened up his world to the importance of Afro-Caribbean influence in western culture and the beauty of the transformation of music and globalization. After his undergraduate studies, Aaron was called to New York City where he spent 8 years working in community organizing.
